Residential homes and Light Commercial facilities are roughly the same physical size and as a result, the applied mechanical system solutions are similar. Manufacturers produce stock items to address these needs which can commonly be selected by and installed by contractors in-house. These systems typically do not require the involvement of an engineer or long lead times.
The residential market includes single family residences and multi-family residences such as condominium complexes. Today 97% of the market includes homes up to 5000 square feet. The light commercial market includes buildings up to 5000 square feet, representing over 50% of the number of all Commercial/Industrial facilities. Examples of light commercial facilities include banks, community centers, houses of worship, restaurants, small shopping centers, self-storage facilities, and office buildings.
